Tinder Trials New Image & ID Verification

Tinder is trialling a new ID and image verification characteristic in Australia and New Zealand. The new course of action encourages end users to submit a video clip selfie and a legitimate ID doc, followed by further picture verification.

Tinder declared that this demo will concentrate on day of birth and likeness checks as basic safety enhancements. 

Buyers are asked to post a movie selfie and a valid Driver’s License or Passport. From there, the relationship system will test that the video clip selfie matches the photograph from the ID and the pictures on the user’s profile.

The approach will also look at the date of birth on the ID with that on the user’s profile.

In exchange for finishing this new process, photograph verified buyers will obtain a blue camera badge on their profiles, whilst ID confirmed customers receive a blue ID verification badge. End users who do both of those will acquire a blue checkmark.

Tinder shared that “we prepare to choose the learnings from this pilot as we explore increasing this element out to other areas in the future”.

Tinder Australia’s regional NGO associate, WESNET welcomed the pilot of ID Verification. WESNET CEO Karen Bentley reported:

“We welcome this exam and hope the pilot of the ID + Image Verification approach will assistance verify that possible matches are genuine as very well as discourage those wondering about misusing the relationship app”.

This is the latest phase in a number of initiatives in Australia to strengthen online dating basic safety, following increased govt tension and concentration on the matter.
